Moment Invariants for Vector Fields via Normalization

Moment invariants have proven a useful tool for the detection of patterns in scalar fields. A generalization to vector fields is not trivial because basic transformations, like rotation and scaling, behave differently depending on the specific interpretation of the vector field.
We present how customized vector field moment invariants for vector fields can be constructed from moment normalization and visualize the results of their application to pattern detection tasks in real word flow simulations.
