Curve evolution or front propagation can be solved by means of embedding them into higher dimensional level set function (LSF). Its dynamics is then solved in the same way as dynamics of the curve or of the front. Usual methods rely on signed distance property of the LSF. It is achieved by periodically re-initializing the LSF. The presentation will be devoted to another approach, which maintains the signed distance property intrinsically, see http://www.engr.uconn.edu/~cmli/paper/DRLSE.pdf
A few segmentation examples will be presented.
