Babak Mahdian received the M.Sc. degree in computer science from the University of West Bohemia, Pilsen, Czech Republic, in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from the Czech Technical University, Prague, Czech Republic, in 2008.

He is also active in bringing scientific results into real-life applications. For instance, his image forensics project called Verifeyed has been awarded by the, so called, Czech Head Prize (category of Industry) or by The City of New York (Next Idea 2011 Contest).
